Co-packaged optics
End-to-end co-packaged optics system was shown at OFC 2026.
What it is
Brings optical fiber directly to the switch or processor chip, so data-center networks can move data by light rather than copper. Corning showed detachable fiber-array connectors, bend-resilient fiber and pre-assembled trays for scalable deployment.
Why it matters to the stock. If co-packaged optics becomes standard in AI switches, it could sharply increase the optical content Corning sells per data center. It is still early and not yet a reported revenue line.
