The numbers
What it is
Microsoft's topological quantum program. Majorana 2 replaces the aluminum superconductor in Majorana 1 with lead. Microsoft says the topological gap is more than twice as large and that a parity lifetime of about 20 seconds was measured in a lead-based device.
Why it matters to the stock. Quantum is a long-dated option, not a near-term revenue driver. The timeline and any claims that prove wrong are headline risk for the stock and for the sector's sentiment.
