The numbers
What it is
Vistra Retail sells electricity to households and businesses in Texas and in Northeast and Midwest markets. Its earnings depend on the spread between the price it charges customers and the price it pays for power, and on how well it hedges that spread.
Why it matters to the stock. Retail is the most stable of Vistra's earnings streams, and it is the part of the business least exposed to swings in wholesale power prices.
