LBMA gold price
The London benchmark price for gold, set twice a day and widely used as the reference for gold contracts.
The LBMA Gold Price is the London benchmark for gold, set through an auction process administered for the London Bullion Market Association and published twice a day. It is widely used as the reference for physical gold contracts, loans and many derivatives and funds. Because it is an auction price, it reflects the prices at which real gold was offered and bought at the time of the fix.
On our site, the LBMA price is the reference for gold spot and for tokenized gold comparisons. Note the time of the fix: a price set in the morning does not reflect later moves.
Traders care because many contracts settle against this benchmark, so the fix time matters when comparing it with live prices.
Worked example (illustrative numbers, not real data): the afternoon fix is 2,000 per ounce. An hour later, a futures contract trades at 2,012. The 12-dollar difference reflects movement after the fix, not an error in the benchmark.
