Alibaba in early talks with Solaria over power for Spain data center

Bloomberg reported on October 2, 2026 that Alibaba has held preliminary talks with Spanish solar producer Solaria about supplying power to a possible data center at Puertollano, about 240 km south of Madrid. The talks are early, no agreement has been reached, and both companies declined to comment. Alibaba has also spoken with other suppliers.
