Snowflake Postgres becomes generally available

Snowflake Postgres, a fully managed Postgres database inside the AI Data Cloud, moved to general availability on February 24, 2026. It lets transactional and analytical work run on the same data, and it came from the Crunchy Data acquisition. The launch takes Snowflake into operational databases, a market it did not serve before.

  • Generally available from February 24, 2026 on AWS and Azure
  • Each instance runs on its own Snowflake-managed virtual machine with standard Postgres clients
  • Preview began December 17, 2025, with point-in-time recovery, read replicas and major-version upgrades
  • Gives AI agents a transactional data store on the same platform
