TI launches BQ79826Z-Q1 battery monitor with built-in impedance sensing for EVs and storage
TI introduced the BQ79826Z-Q1, a battery monitor that tracks up to 26 cells per device and includes an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy engine for detecting faults inside cells. TI says the chip tracks up to 44% more channels than earlier generations and measures impedance five times faster than previous solutions. Preproduction units are on TI.com now, and production quantities are expected by the end of 2026.
- Up to 26 series cells per device; stackable up to 128 devices
- Built-in EIS engine for early warning of thermal runaway and aging
- TI says EIS measurement is five times faster than previous solutions
- Preproduction now; production quantities expected by end of 2026
- Targets EV battery management and energy storage, including AI data-center storage
