Uber, Wayve and Nissan sign MoU for a Tokyo robotaxi pilot targeted for late 2026

Uber, Wayve and Nissan signed a memorandum of understanding to bring robotaxis to Tokyo. The vehicle is a Nissan LEAF running Wayve's AI Driver, and preparations for a pilot are targeted for late 2026, subject to talks with authorities. A trained safety operator will ride in the car in the first phase.
