NVIDIA and Cisco announce USFP 400G-per-lane pluggable optics for AI factories
NVIDIA and Cisco announced plans for USFP, a high-density 400 Gb/s-per-lane optical module timed to the OCP Global Summit. Cisco says it offers about four times the bandwidth density and 1.3 times the power efficiency of 200 Gb/s-per-lane optics. It is at the planning stage, and no shipping hardware was announced.
- 400 Gb/s per lane; up to 12.8 Tb/s total capacity
- About 4x bandwidth density and 1.3x power efficiency vs 200 Gb/s-per-lane optics (company claim)
- Multi-source ecosystem with TE Connectivity and Amphenol; open specification planned
- Planning stage; no shipments announced
