Intel joins Tesla, SpaceX and xAI on the Terafab chip project

Intel said on X on April 7, 2026 that it would join the Terafab project with SpaceX, xAI and Tesla to help refactor silicon fab technology. Its post says its chip design, fabrication and packaging capabilities will help Terafab reach its 1 TW-per-year compute goal. Electrek reads the deal as Intel running the fab; neither Tesla nor Intel has confirmed that.
