What it is
Gateways are ground stations that connect the satellite network to partners' terrestrial mobile networks. AST sells them as equipment, and they are the main source of product revenue. Revenue depends on how many gateways are delivered in each period.
Why it matters to the stock. Gateway sales bring in cash ahead of network service. Delivery timing moves quarterly revenue, which can make the figures uneven.
