Gasoline

Fuel sold at Costco-operated gas stations, mostly at or next to warehouses and open to members. It draws members in and feeds traffic to the warehouse, but its price is set by the oil market, so it moves reported sales and is excluded from the adjusted comparable sales figure.

Why it matters to the stock. Gasoline lifts reported sales when prices rise, so traders read comparable sales adjusted for gasoline prices alongside reported figures.
