GEOST payloads
Acquired in August 2025. It builds electro-optical and infrared payloads for defense and intelligence satellites.
What it is
GEOST makes electro-optical and infrared sensor payloads that are flown on government satellites. Rocket Lab bought it for about $275 million in cash and stock, plus up to $50 million in possible earnouts tied to 2026 and 2027 revenue targets.
Why it matters to the stock. Payloads are usually the most valuable part of a surveillance satellite. Owning GEOST lets Rocket Lab offer complete missions instead of just the spacecraft and the ride to orbit.
