Anvisa lifts ban on medicine sales and ads on Mercado Livre and other platforms
On August 10, 2026 Anvisa revoked the preventive measures that barred Mercado Livre, iFood, Rappi, Shopee, Americanas and Submarino from selling and advertising medicines, with the decision published in the Diario Oficial. Under Law 15.357/2026, licensed pharmacies and drugstores may use these platforms as their logistics and delivery channel. Anvisa said the revocation does not authorize automatic sales and does not exempt the companies from health rules.
- Revoked: the measures that prohibited selling and advertising medicines on the platforms
- Only licensed pharmacies and drugstores can sell; platforms act as the logistics and delivery channel
- Anvisa: the revocation does not imply automatic authorization to sell pharmaceutical products
- Detailed rules for marketplaces are still pending, so the scope of the change is not final
