FDA approves Lilly's oral obesity pill Foundayo, a rival to the Wegovy pill

The FDA approved Eli Lilly's once-daily orforglipron, sold as Foundayo, for obesity on 1 April 2026, after a 50-day review under a new fast-track programme. It is the first direct rival to Novo's Wegovy pill in the US oral obesity market. Cash prices run from $149 to $349 a month depending on dose, which adds pressure on the Wegovy pill's pricing.
