Shopify launches Canvas, a chat-driven visual store builder powered by Sidekick

Shopify launched Canvas on October 1, 2026, a visual workspace where merchants see every page of their store at once and build with Sidekick. Changes appear in real time on a live render of the store's code. Shopify says Canvas is rolling out over the coming days and is not yet replacing the existing editor.

• Canvas shows every store page in one workspace
• Sidekick changes appear in real time on a live render of store code
• Rolling out over the coming days from October 1, 2026
• Not replacing the existing store editor yet; Shopify says gaps remain
