Synopsys agrees to sell its Processor IP business to GlobalFoundries

Synopsys signed a definitive agreement to sell its Processor IP Solutions business to GlobalFoundries. The package includes the ARC CPU, RISC-V, DSP and NPU processor IP lines along with ARC MetaWare and ASIP tools. Synopsys says the price is not disclosed and the deal is not material to its business, and it keeps its interface, foundation and security IP.

• Sold: ARC-V (RISC-V), ARC CPU, DSP and NPU IP, plus ARC MetaWare, ASIP Designer and ASIP Programmer
• Retained: interface IP, foundation IP (logic libraries, embedded memories), security IP
• Synopsys says the transaction is not material to the business
• Closing was expected in the second half of calendar 2026, subject to regulatory approvals
