Synopsys makes the software and semiconductor IP that engineers use to design, verify and simulate chips and electronic systems. Fiscal 2025 revenue was $7.05 billion, and Q3 fiscal 2026 revenue was $2.48 billion, up 42% year over year. Its growth is driven by AI-related chip design demand, and the Ansys acquisition in July 2025 added engineering simulation to the business.
How it makes money
Synopsys sells EDA software and licensed design IP to chipmakers, systems companies and engineering teams, mostly as licenses and subscriptions with maintenance and services on top. Design Automation made up 75% of fiscal 2025 revenue and Design IP 25%. Ansys simulation software, bought in July 2025, is sold to aerospace, automotive, semiconductor and industrial engineering customers.
