What matters nowUpdated 7 h ago

  • AMD unveiled Helion on Oct 12, an open agentic AI rack blueprint built on the Helios approach that pairs 6th Gen EPYC CPUs with MI350P GPU nodes, with agentic rack configurations planned with partners Cisco, Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Supermicro and Wiwynn for November 2026, though the release names no customers 1.
  • AMD agreed on Sep 28 to buy World Labs for about $8.2 billion paid entirely in AMD stock, with Fei-Fei Li to join as executive vice president and chief scientist if the deal closes, which AMD expects by the end of 2026 subject to regulatory approvals 2, and an 8-K filed the same day reports an unregistered equity sale for an event dated Sep 26 3.
  • The pooled 24/7 venue price was $584.89 at 11:51 UTC on Oct 13, down 0.95% from a $590.47 previous close. The Sep 21 gain of 10.01% came alongside a 10.1% rise in Meta, AMD's 6 GW Instinct partner, after Wells Fargo raised its Meta target to $796 from $640, though no direct AMD link was confirmed, while the Oct 8 drop of 4.33% has no researched explanation.
  • On trailing twelve months to June 27, 2026, AMD reported $41.3 billion of revenue, up 39.5% year on year after 50.1% growth in the latest quarter, EPS of $3.89 up 123.6%, a 53.2% gross margin, a 15.7% operating margin and $8.4 billion of free cash flow. At a $954.5 billion market cap the stock trades at 150 times trailing earnings and 23 times sales, with $1.9 billion of net cash.
  • Insiders sold 594,577 shares worth $271.1 million across 21 sales over the last 180 days, 17 of them flagged as planned, and recorded no insider purchases in that period.
  • The next dated catalyst is fiscal Q3 2026 results on Nov 3 after the close, against company guidance of about $13.0 billion of revenue (plus or minus $0.3 billion) and a non-GAAP gross margin of about 56% 4, with UBS and Barclays conference appearances on Dec 1 and Dec 9 also listed in that release. The September CPI print lands Oct 14 at 12:30 UTC, and Polymarket puts 80.5% on no Fed rate change after the October meeting and 19.5% on a 25 bp increase.

AMD designs CPUs, GPUs and adaptive chips for data centers, PCs, gaming consoles and embedded systems. Its biggest growth driver is Instinct AI accelerators and EPYC server CPUs sold into hyperscale and AI data centers, with Ryzen PC processors, Radeon graphics and the Xilinx-based Embedded business as the other pillars. Full-year 2025 revenue was $34.6 billion across three operating segments; Q2 2026 revenue was $11.5 billion, up 50% year over year.

How it makes money

AMD sells chips and, increasingly, complete rack-scale systems. Data Center revenue comes from Instinct GPUs and EPYC CPUs sold to cloud providers, AI labs and enterprises, often under multi-year supply agreements, some with equity warrants attached. Client and Gaming revenue comes from Ryzen PC processors and Radeon GPUs sold through OEMs and retail, plus semi-custom chips for consoles. Embedded revenue comes from FPGAs, adaptive SoCs and other programmable chips for industrial, automotive, communications and test markets. Gross margin is driven by the mix between high-margin data center products and lower-margin client and gaming products.
