AMD and Anthropic agree to deploy up to 2 GW of MI450-series GPUs

Anthropic will deploy up to 2 gigawatts of Instinct MI450 Series GPUs in AMD Helios racks, with the first gigawatt starting in the first half of 2027. AMD committed to a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic, and the two companies will run a multi-year engineering collaboration that uses Claude to optimize Instinct and ROCm software. For traders this is the largest named Helios customer so far, but the deal is an 'up to' ceiling and the investment is paid in the future.
