Apple announces new EU App Store business terms effective October 1

Apple announced on August 18, 2026 new business terms for apps distributed in the European Union, effective October 1, 2026. The per-install Core Technology Fee is replaced by a 5% commission on digital transactions in apps distributed outside the App Store, while the Initial Acquisition Fee and Store Services Fee are eliminated. The European Commission has welcomed the change, but the formal case is not closed and Epic Games has called the terms junk fees.
