Tesla drops standard Autosteer from new Model 3 and Model Y orders
From January 23, 2026, new Model 3 and Model Y orders in North America no longer include basic Autopilot as standard. Only Traffic-Aware Cruise Control ships by default, and highway lane-keeping now needs the paid FSD subscription. Electrek framed it as a move to push buyers toward the higher-margin software.
- Basic Autopilot (Autosteer) removed as standard on new NA Model 3/Y orders
- Only Traffic-Aware Cruise Control ships by default
- FSD is listed at $99 per month for lane-keeping that was previously standard
- Change applied effective immediately, per Electrek
