On January 30, 2026 Amazon asked the FCC for a 24-month extension of its milestone to deploy half of the Leo satellite constellation. The request would move the deadline from July 30, 2026 to July 30, 2028. Amazon blamed a near-term shortage of available rockets for missing the original date.
- Requested extension: 24 months, to July 30, 2028
- Original deadline: July 30, 2026
- Milestone covers about 1,618 satellites (half the constellation)
