What it is
Amazon's low-Earth-orbit satellite broadband network, formerly Project Kuiper and renamed Amazon Leo in November 2025. Satellites launch on ULA Atlas V and Vulcan, Arianespace Ariane 64 and other rockets, and the service targets consumers, enterprises and government customers. Amazon has said it expects an initial service rollout later in 2026.
Why it matters to the stock. Leo is a large, multi-year capital project that competes with SpaceX Starlink. Its launch cadence and service start date affect AWS and capex narratives. Amazon has asked the FCC for more time on its deployment deadline.
