Idaho fabs (ID1 and ID2, Boise)
ID1 is projected to start first DRAM wafer output in mid-calendar 2027. ID2 targets initial wafer output by late calendar 2028.
The numbers
What it is
Micron's two new DRAM fabs in Boise, Idaho. ID1 broke ground in September 2022 and construction began in October 2023. ID2 construction began in 2026. The Idaho fabs are covered by a US government direct funding agreement.
Why it matters to the stock. Idaho is Micron's main new US DRAM capacity for the AI cycle. A slip in ID1 timing would limit bit growth in 2027 and 2028.
