Lucid Gravity and Nuro robotaxi

Dedicated robotaxi in development. The San Francisco Bay Area launch is targeted for late 2026, and the companies still need California driverless permits.

UBER market data

What it is

Uber, Lucid and Nuro are building a purpose-made robotaxi on the Lucid Gravity SUV, with Nuro supplying the autonomous driver. Uber has committed to buy at least 20,000 vehicles over six years, and the Bay Area is the first planned market.

Why it matters to the stock. This is Uber's first owned-fleet style bet on driverless service. A successful Bay Area launch would test unit economics for autonomous rides and show whether the 20,000-vehicle commitment is realistic.
