Amgen is a large biopharmaceutical company that sells medicines for cardiovascular disease, bone health, inflammation, oncology and rare diseases. Its biggest sellers are Prolia and XGEVA, Repatha, EVENITY, Enbrel and Otezla. Traders follow it through the growth of its newer launches, such as Tezspire, IMDELLTRA and UPLIZNA, the erosion of Prolia and XGEVA as biosimilars enter, and its obesity drug MariTide, which is in Phase 3 testing.
How it makes money
Amgen earns almost all of its revenue from selling medicines, mainly biologics given by injection or infusion. Product sales were $35.1 billion in fiscal 2025 and total revenues were $36.8 billion. The U.S. was 73% of product sales. Amgen makes money by pricing new medicines and defending existing ones against biosimilar competition, and it reinvests part of the cash in clinical trials for its pipeline.
