- The FAA said on Oct 2 that a software issue in certain Boeing 737 MAX flight computers is not a safety concern, removing a main obstacle to MAX 10 certification that it had delayed on Sep 28 over flight software GE Aerospace supplied, with officials saying certification could come as soon as later in October 1 2.
- GE shares trade at a pooled 24/7 venue price of $307.28, down 0.40% from the previous close of $308.50. Recent sharp drops were 4.11% on Aug 19, 3.91% on Aug 20, 3.45% on Aug 27 and 3.39% on Sep 28, the last of which fell on the day the FAA delayed the MAX 10 2; the only gain in that set was 3.04% on Aug 14.
- Over the twelve months to June 30, 2026, revenue was $50.64B, up 21.7% year on year, EPS was $8.48 (up 18.3%), net margin was 17.7% and free cash flow was $8.40B, a 16.6% FCF margin. At a $318.8B market value the stock trades on 36.2 times earnings and 6.3 times sales, with a 2.6% free-cash-flow yield. In Q2 2026 Commercial Engines & Services revenue grew 27%, and Defense & Propulsion revenue rose 16% on 12% higher orders.
- The GE9X engine for the Boeing 777X has a durability problem first identified in January. On Sep 17 CFO Rahul Ghai said GE began shipping the redesigned mid-seal to Boeing in the third quarter, with FAA certification of the production part still pending 3, and Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said some 777X testing may slip into 2027 while first deliveries are still expected in 2027 4.
- Insiders sold 19,855 shares worth $7.18M in three sales over the last 180 days and bought none. GE Aerospace reports Q3 2026 results with a webcast on Oct 20, 2026, and Polymarket odds put adjusted revenue above $13.2B at 58.5%, above $13.6B at 43.5% and above $14B at 20%, all resolving that day.

GE Aerospace designs, makes and services jet engines for commercial and military aircraft. It is the aerospace business that GE kept after spinning off GE Vernova in April 2024. Its two segments are Commercial Engines & Services (CES), which sells LEAP and GE9X engines and earns most of its money from long-term spare parts and shop-visit work, and Defense & Propulsion Technologies (DPT), which makes military engines and aerospace components. Q2 2026 orders were $16.5B and the backlog is over $210B.
How it makes money
Engine makers sell engines at thin margins and then earn years of higher-margin revenue from spare parts, repairs and overhauls under long-term service agreements. GE Aerospace's CES segment follows that model: services revenue was $24.2B in FY2025 (recast figure), and equipment revenue was $7.7B. DPT sells military engines, parts and systems to governments and prime contractors.
